In-Office Sedation and Anesthesia
At Knoxville Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, our team has the training, licensing and experience to provide all forms of sedation and anesthesia in our office, including local anesthesia, IV sedation and general anesthesia. Additionally, Dr. Nicole Eisenberg is board certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. Whether you’re undergoing oral surgery or a cosmetic procedure, you’ll have peace of mind knowing we have the expertise to safely administer the appropriate anesthesia to maximize your comfort.
Extensive Training in Administering Anesthesia
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons like Dr. Eisenberg are trained in all aspects of anesthesia administration. Following dental school, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS) completes at least four years of training in a hospital-based surgical residency program alongside medical residents in general surgery, anesthesia and other specialties. During this time, OMS residents serve on the medical anesthesiology service, where they evaluate patients for anesthesia, deliver the anesthetic and monitor patients post-anesthesia.
Because of her extensive training, Dr. Eisenberg is well-prepared to appropriately administer local anesthesia, all forms of sedation and general anesthesia. She’s also experienced in airway management, endotracheal intubation, establishing and maintaining intravenous lines, and managing complications and emergencies that may arise during the administration of anesthesia.
Dr. Eisenberg took the extra step of becoming board certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. In order to apply for board certification, the doctor must complete an accredited program of anesthesiology training and maintain the highest level of knowledge and skill through ongoing and continual postgraduate education.
Exceeding Standards for Optimum Safety
The surgical team at Knoxville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is highly trained in assisting outpatient general anesthesia and IV sedation, and every staff member is certified in CPR. Both Dr. Eisenberg and our Sedation RN have an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Our Surgeon and team also complete continuing education, as well as attend national meetings, lectures, seminars and symposiums to stay current on all areas related to oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia.
We’re equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and we use proven techniques and tools. This ensures we can provide anesthesia and sedation in an environment of optimum safety. Additionally, our facility, doctor and surgical care team are regularly inspected on behalf of the Board of Dental Examiners.
